Editor’s verdict
Irau Drive Playground is a very simple neighbourhood playground, but its location gives it far more character than the equipment alone would suggest. The play structure itself is modest, with climbing elements and a small standing spinner rather than the usual collection of slides and swings, so children who are looking for a big destination playground may get through it fairly quickly.
What makes the visit memorable is how close the playground is to the water. There are very few playgrounds in Singapore where children can play with the sea just beyond the greenery, and the breeze coming off the straits makes the space feel quite different from the usual playground tucked between residential blocks.
For younger children, it works well as a short stop before or after a visit to nearby Sembawang Park. Older children may prefer the larger battleship-themed playground there, so Irau Drive is best thought of as a quieter add-on rather than the main attraction.
