Editor’s verdict
Smigy at PLQ Mall is a good middle ground between a compact neighbourhood indoor playground and the much larger destination-style play centres. There is enough here to keep younger children busy for a decent stretch, with slides, climbing structures, ball pits, trampolines and ride-on toys, but the space still feels manageable enough that parents are not constantly trying to track their child across a huge multi-level venue.
It is particularly well suited to toddlers, preschoolers and younger primary-school children. The mix of active play and quieter imaginative-play areas gives children more variety than a straightforward soft-play setup, while the PLQ location makes it very easy to combine with lunch, shopping or errands. Being directly connected to Paya Lebar MRT is another practical advantage, especially for families travelling without a car.
The trade-off is that older children who are used to large climbing courses or more adventurous indoor playgrounds may get through the attractions fairly quickly. It can also feel busy during weekends and school holidays, when a relatively compact space fills up fast. For younger children, however, Smigy remains one of the more convenient and well-rounded indoor playground options in the east.
