Quick answer

VroomTown Driving City is a commercial indoor playground in Singapore near Esplanade MRT. It is suitable for children; independent driving generally suits older preschoolers and above. It is best for driving role play, children who love cars, road-safety themed play, and families looking for something different from a conventional soft-play centre.

The quick take

Editor’s verdict

VroomTown is one of the more distinctive indoor play experiences in Singapore, particularly for children who are fascinated by cars. The driving circuit is the main attraction here: children get behind the wheel of a small electric car and make their way around a miniature Singapore complete with traffic lights, road signs, a petrol station, car wash, drive-through and familiar landmarks. First-time drivers also go through a short road-safety lesson before they start.

It works especially well once children are old enough to understand the idea of following road rules rather than simply steering around a track. Five-year-olds and above can drive independently, which is probably when the experience starts to feel most satisfying. Younger children can still take part with a parent alongside them, and there is also a separate indoor playground with slides and a ball pit when they want a break from driving.

The one-hour format keeps the experience fairly focused. On a quiet day that can be plenty, although families who want to spend time in both the driving city and the soft-play area may find themselves watching the clock. The admission price is also higher than a conventional indoor playground session, but VroomTown offers an experience that is difficult to replicate elsewhere.

+

Best bitAn unusually immersive driving experience where children actually practise traffic rules rather than simply riding around

−

Keep in mindThe fixed one-hour session can feel short when the venue is busy or children also want to use the playground

Things parents usually want to know

Weather & heat

An excellent rainy-day option because the entire driving city and playground are indoors. The route from Esplanade MRT into Marina Square is also via an integrated basement walkway.

Crowds

VroomTown operates fixed hourly sessions with limited capacity, so advance booking is sensible on weekends and school holidays. Verified visitor feedback suggests weekday sessions can feel much more relaxed, giving children more time on the circuit.

Strollers

Marina Square has lift access designed for pram users. I would keep the wording conservative: “Stroller-friendly access through the mall; check with VroomTown about stroller parking during your session.”

Baby changing

Yes, within Marina Square. The mall has nursing/family rooms with changing stations, sinks and seating; the B1 nursing room also has hot and cold water.

Getting there

VroomTown is at Marina Square, #01-208. From Esplanade MRT, use the Marina Link basement walkway into Marina Square. From Promenade MRT, walk through Millenia Walk and enter Marina Square from the Raffles Boulevard side.

What other families are saying

Around the web

Parent feedback is generally strongest around the novelty of the driving experience. Families often mention the miniature petrol station, car wash and drive-through, as well as the small driving licence children receive after completing their lesson. Staff friendliness and the cleanliness of the venue also come up regularly.

Several families have returned more than once because their children enjoy the driving enough to ask to come back. Reviews suggest that the one-hour session feels reasonable when the venue is quiet, although some parents feel rushed when they are trying to fit the circuit and indoor playground into the same visit. The relatively compact circuit also means the experience is likely to hold more appeal for younger children than older kids looking for speed or a large go-kart track.

Common positives: Unusual concept, friendly staff, realistic road features, driving licence souvenir and strong repeat appeal for car-loving children
Common drawbacks: One hour can feel short, and the venue is relatively compact compared with a full indoor playground
